This week we had presentations ALL week. We watched our different classmates take turns, and "teach" us a new song, and what musical concepts, and skills we would be using during the lesson. Most of them were really great, and we had fun pretending to me young again. Everyone left feeling happier, and laughing.
I taught "Old McDonald" as my song. Unfortunally, I didn't do as well as I had hoped, since I had a head injury. One of the things I found difficult, while planning for the presentation, was motions, and a dance to accompany the song. While old McDonald as many different animals in it, most don't do much than just stand there. After thinking for a few days, I finally had a dance, using different hand, and leg movement. It also involved using a partner. However, since I had hit my head so hard, I had forgotten what my dance was! I even forgot the name of the song. I think that overall, everything went poorly. Something that did go well was the class itself. Everyone participated, and went along with what I was trying to teach. They answered all my questions, and helped out to make it more comofrtable. I think that if I got to go again (and I think I might be) I would do so much better. I would have my dance down, I would speak clearly, and I wouldn't have an awful headache!
I think that some things I could change were my preparations, and explaining better what concepts, and skills were going to be used, and why they are important, not only to music, but also in everyday life. Old McDonald has alot of coordination, and repetition of vowels in it. It also helps with memory, and learning the names of animals, and which animals go with which sounds.

For my own teaching, I would give myself a 4 for the musicianship. I think that I could have used better rhythm, and phrasing for some things that I said. For leadership, I think I would get a 8. I think my facial expression could have beeb better, and I could have been a little louder, and spoken more clearly. For preparation, I think that I would receive a 10. I forgot everything I was going to say, and at one point, the name of the song. And delivery, I would get a 17. I think that I asked good questions, and showed the class what I wanted them to do, and moved with them. The class seemed to enjoy the song, and I was able to change pace if they weren't understanding. Overall, I think I would deserve a 39/50.
